| Q | What is the warranty policy for the MENTOR? |
| A |
Like all our unique ebook readers, we offer a one-year parts and labor warranty if the MENTOR has a malfunction. Please check our warranty policy available on Moon Tech's website: http://moon-tech.com/moon-technologies-limited-warranty.html |
| Q | Does the MENTOR support MP3 files? |
| A | Yes, the MENTOR can play individual MP3 files. However, it does not support audiobooks as yet. |
| Q | How are images and pictures displayed on the MENTOR? |
| A | The MENTOR uses a four-level grayscale display, which means that pictures will be displayed in four shades of grey. |
| Q | Does the MENTOR have a color screen? |
| A | No, the MENTOR uses E-ink and E-paper technology that does not strain the eyes, which means that the ‘ink' is black and the ‘paper' is a light shade of grey. Color display is not possible yet because color would require a backlight, which causes more eye strain. However, an advantage of the E-ink and E-paper technology is that it is very power efficient so that you can read 8,000 pages of text on a single charge. |
| Q | How can I increase the font size on the MENTOR? |
| A | Depending on the format, the MENTOR displays up to 8 font sizes. After opening an eBook, press the "Menu Button" to reach the E Reading window. In the E Reading window, select "FONT FAMILY" and press ENTER to reach FAMILY window. This will tell you the font type and give you 8 choices of font size. |
| Q | Is the MENTOR compatible with Windows Vista, Mac, etc? |
| A | Yes, it's compatible with all Microsoft Windows versions, including Vista, and also compatible with Macs with USB 2.0+. |
| Q | How do I bookmark? |
| A | First open an eBook, then press "Menu" button to reach the E Reading window. On the E Reading window, select the first item "BOOKMARK" and press ENTER. Under the BOOKMARK window, you can choose to Add Bookmark, or remove bookmarks, or jump to the first/last/previous/next bookmark with the other options in the Bookmark menu. If you add a bookmark, a paper clip icon will display in the upper left corner of the book to indicate a bookmark has been added. Please refer to your User Manual for more detailed information on this topic. |
| Q | How do I switch between the MENTOR’s internal memory and the SD card memory? |
| A | In the MENTOR, the contents of the internal memory and your SD card memory (if it is inserted), are combined. So, the library conveniently combines and displays all of your content under one "bookshelf", so that you don't need to switch between memories. |
| Q | General questions about the battery charge indicator: |
| A | Please fully charge the Mentor's battery for at least 12 hours overnight before using it. In the beginning, the battery gauge on the Mentor screen is only a rough guide to the amount of battery power left. So we strongly suggest recharging your Mentor when the battery gauge shows there is ¼ battery life remaining. |
| Q | Which SD cards can I use? |
| A | Your MENTOR is compatible with SD cards up to 4GB in size. Any brand of SD card will work as long as it is 4GB or smaller. |
| Q | Is the SD slot SDHC compatible? |
| A | No, not yet. But the MENTOR has 512 MB of internal memory and supports SD cards up to 4 GB. |
| Q | Is there a fast way to “flip” through the pages of an eBook when I want to skip several pages at once? |
| A | You can use the "Go To Page" function to jump to a specific page. Please refer to your User Manual for more information. |
| Q | I love my MENTOR and want to care for it. How can I best do this? |
| A | Keep it dry at all times. Clean the screen GENTLY, and do not use Windex. Use a soft, lint free cloth. A good eyeglass cleaner on the screen is ok, but just a little bit. You can use a can of Electronics Duster, such as "Blow Off", and clean around the buttons. |
| Q | What about languages? Is English the only language on the MENTOR? |
| A | Your MENTOR supports most major languages, such as English, Chinese, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Russian. Press the Menu button, then select Languages from the menu and choose the language you prefer. |

How to Copy Files to the eAlim eBook Reader? How to Get eAlim Connected to My Computer? |
| A |
Method 1:
1. First, download the PC Connectivity driver (for Windows) here or from the Download Center. Save the driver compressed file (.rar file) to your laptop/pc hard drive.
2. Extract the .rar file to a folder/path that you know on the hard drive. You should not have the eAlim connected to your PC till this point yet.
3. Turn On your eAlim. From main menu, go to Settings --> System. Check the box for "Turn On ActiveSync", if it is not checked. This will allow you to use Microsoft ActiveSync to copy files to the eAlim using your PC.
Note: The eAlim has two USB ports, please hook up the usb cable to the USB port labled "PC" on your eAlim. Also, if you are using a desktop, please use one of USB ports at the backside of the PC since some PCs supply a lower current (i.e., low power) through usb ports placed at the front of the case.
4. Once you connect the eAlim for the first time, the "New Hardware Wizard" of MS Windows will start and will ask you for a driver to the eAlim. Browse and select the "Driver" folder which you can find it in the folder of Step 2 above. It then loads the driver like other drives and its done.
5. After this when you unplug and plug the device again, it will not do any thing nor it will display a new hardware message since the device has been already identified to the laptop.
6. Use your Folder Explorer to browse the folder in Step 2 above and install the ActiveSync and after installing it automatically shows the conection with the device.
7. Unplug and plug your eAlim. The ActiveSync application on your PC will pop up a message prompting you to either: (i) Create a partnership with the eAlim, or (ii) Don't create a partnership and use explorer for file access. Please chose the second option. Using your "My Computer", "File Explorer" or ActiveSync, you can now browse the files on your eAlim.
NOTE: Please do NOT delete EnmacQuran nor DhikrData folders since they are required for eAlim propoer operation.
Method 2:
Insert the 2GB microSD card into a microSD card adapter and then plug the adapter into your laptop/desktop. Note: make sure your eAlim is turned off before removing or inserting the SD card from/into it.
Also, touch any metal object just before you reach for the SDcard to discharge any electrostatic charge that your body might have which could damage the SD card.

| Q |
How can I charge my eAlim eBook Reader? |
| A |
You can charge the eAlim by either: 1. Connecting it to your PC through the usb cable (a free cable is provided within the eAlim's package). Please use the usb port labled "PC" on your eAlim. 2. Using the AC adapter included in the eAlim's package. The AC power adapter supports both 110 and 240 volts (50/60Hz) electrical standards and it has both round-end pins and flat pins, so you can use it anywhere in the world. |
| Q |
My eAlim shows "True Uthmanic Quran" (or one of its components) is unavailable/not found whenever I click on "True Uthmanic Quran" icon. What does that mean? and how to fix it? My eAlim shows "Al-Dhikr" (or one of its components) is unavailable/not found whenever I click on "Al-Dhiker" icon. What does that mean? and how to fix it? |
| A |
Most probably, there is something wrong went with the microSD card that the device uses to store preloaded data for Mushaf Al-Madina Quran and Al-Dhiker menu. If the card is still OK, you only need to copy the data back to the card and this should fix the issue. Otherwise, you may need to use another 4GB microSD card (or another card with a larger capacity **recommended**) and copy the data to it.
Note: you can format the microSD card (FAT32) to delete all pre-existing contents on the card before you copy the eAlim data to the card.
Note: make sure your eAlim is turned off before removing or inserting the SD card from/into it. Also, touch any metal object just before you reach for the SDcard to discharge any electrostatic charge that your body might have which could damage the SD card.
Alternatively, you can connect your eAlim to the PC through the USB cable and use the Windows File Explorer to access the storage card on the eAlim.
NOTE: eAlim data is specially edited and formatted to be read by a special software program running on eAlim ebook reader. You can't browse or open these data files on a normal PC/MAC since it lacks the required application. |
| Q | Can I use a microSD card larger than 2GB? |
| A | For version 1 of eAlim (discontinued on April 1st, 2010), the answer is No. For newer models of eAlim, they all support SDcard with capacity upto 16GB! |
| Q | I need to view personal photos, listen to other recitations and/or speeches in mp3 format and play avi videos on my eAlim but the remaining storage space on the 2GB card is limited (for eAlim version 1). What can I do? |
| A |
Simply, you can either delete some or all of the sample audio/video and image files that are preloaded on Audio, Video and Images directories on the micro SDcard to give you more storage space. Or, you can use a different card that has your media files stored on it then you can plug this card into your eAlim whenever you want. The Audio/Video Player, Image Viewer and eBook reader applications still run with no issues even if the original micro SDcard (which has the Quran and AL-Dhiker data) doesn't exist. You will need to insert the original card if you need to use either application. You can have as many "other" 2GB cards as you want and have all your media files on them. The very first version of eAlim can only support microSD cards with a maximum capacity of 2GB. All our new versions (starting April 2010) can now handle upto 16GB microSD cards, giving you a huge space for storing your media files and ebooks. |
